Omni Inclusive, myBasePay, and Glider AI partner on a scholarship fund “GOAL+” to support marginalized LGBTQ+ college students.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) has become one of the most popular conversation points in both personal and professional circles. Despite much progress, many DE&I groups especially marginalized LGBTQ+ people, continue to face discrimination with legal implications such as Florida’s “don’t say gay bill.
This pride month, Glider AI and Omni Inclusive partner on the GOAL+ Scholarship (Glider AI-Omni Inclusive Allies of LGBTQ+) with support from diversity-owned and operated myBasePay. The scholarship supports marginalized lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) students pursuing career opportunities in tech and non-tech roles. The hope is to enable up-and-coming leaders, regardless of background, to have an equal shot and a chance to get to a leadership position (McKinsey & Company).
Wen Stenger, CEO and Co-Founder of Omni Inclusive, provides perspective as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, “LGBTQ+ youth are often met with financial challenges due to a lack of family support and go on to face employment discrimination. Higher education and employment with belonging should not be a barrier based on who you are or who you love.”
Beyond DE&I just being the right thing to do, corporate America sees the opportunity. To win the war on Talent and engage a new generation of workers and consumers—many choose careers and products based on diversity—companies must move beyond public gestures of support for LGBTQ+ issues.
The GOAL+ Scholarship gives financial assistance to LGBTQ+ students with demonstrable financial need and a GPA of at least 3.0 while in the second year of college study. Students can apply for the scholarship by submitting applications on the Bold.org website here.
